Bathroom Remodels

Every bathroom on this page started as a room somebody had stopped wanting to walk into — a tub too high to step over safely, a wall that had been leaking behind the tile long enough to need a tarp, a shower too small to turn around in.

We are not locked into one product line, so each of these was specified for the space and the budget in front of us rather than the one system we happened to sell. No pressure, no upsell — just the shower the homeowner actually wanted.

Tub-to-Shower Conversion for Safer Daily Use

Aging in Place · Des Moines Metro

Before Before: dated almond tile tub surround with a stained fiberglass tub and a walker parked beside it
Original almond tile surround, a high step-over tub, and grout that had given out at the corners.
After After: low-threshold walk-in shower with marble-look acrylic walls, grab bars, and sliding glass doors
A low-threshold shower with grab bars at both heights and a handheld sprayer within easy reach.

The homeowner was getting in and out of a standard tub with a walker beside it. We pulled the tub and the old tile, set a low-threshold base in the same footprint so no plumbing had to move, and finished the walls in a grout-free marble-look acrylic system that wipes clean. Grab bars were blocked into the framing before the panels went up — not surface-mounted afterward — so they carry real weight. The window stayed exactly where it was.

Scope
Full tub-to-shower conversion, original footprint
Walls
Grout-free marble-look acrylic wall system
Safety
Low-threshold entry, two reinforced grab bars, handheld sprayer on a slide bar
Finish
Brushed nickel, sliding glass doors, corner shelving

Guest Bath Rebuilt After a Leaking Surround

Water Damage Repair · Des Moines Metro

Before Before: bathtub with a blue tarp clipped over the failing tile surround to keep water off the wall
A blue tarp clipped over the tile — the homeowner's stopgap against water getting behind the wall.
After After: clean white walk-in shower with a low curb, matte black shower rod and fixtures
A seamless white walk-in shower with a low curb and matte black fixtures.

Tile surrounds fail quietly. By the time this one was tarped, water had been working on the wall behind it for a while. We took the tub and the surround down to the studs, repaired what the moisture had reached, and rebuilt it as a walk-in shower with a one-piece base and smooth non-porous walls — no grout lines to reseal every couple of years. The homeowner's existing paint and vanity stayed, which kept the job squarely in the budget-friendly tier.

Scope
Tub removed, wall repaired to the studs, walk-in shower installed
Walls
Smooth grout-free acrylic panels, integrated window return
Features
Low curb entry, matte black rod and fixtures, adjustable handheld
Kept as-is
Existing vanity, flooring, and paint

Master Bath Reworked Around an Oversized Shower

Full Remodel · Des Moines Metro

Before Before: master bathroom with a cramped corner shower behind framed glass and a large builder-grade garden tub
A cramped corner shower behind framed glass, with a builder-grade garden tub eating the best wall.
After After: oversized curbless-style walk-in shower with marble-look panels, rainfall head and handheld sprayer
Shown during final install: an oversized walk-in shower with a rainfall head and a separate handheld.

The old layout gave most of the room to a garden tub nobody used and squeezed the shower into a corner you had to turn sideways in. We flipped the priority: a wide walk-in shower now takes the long wall, with full-height marble-look panels, a rainfall head, a separate handheld on the opposite wall, and a single-lever mixing valve. A freestanding soaking tub replaced the built-in, so the room kept a tub without giving up the floor space to it.

Scope
Full master bath remodel and layout change
Shower
Oversized base with full-height marble-look panels and a glass return
Fixtures
Brushed nickel rainfall head, handheld sprayer, single-lever mixing valve
Also new
Freestanding soaking tub in place of the built-in garden tub
