Flooring

You Pick the Material. We Install It.

We don't sell one flooring line and talk you into it. Bring us the luxury vinyl plank you found on sale, the hardwood you've had your eye on, or a sample you picked up at a showroom — we'll tell you honestly whether it suits the room, and then we'll install it right.

That includes the part most people skip past: pulling the old floor, checking the subfloor, dealing with the surprises underneath, and finishing the transitions and trim so the job doesn't look like a job.

Original Oak, Found Under the Carpet

Hardwood Refinish · Des Moines Metro

Before Before: stripped room with worn carpet padding and adhesive residue covering the original hardwood floor
Before Before: second room with the carpet removed, showing stained subfloor and water marks along the wall
After After: the same room with the original oak floor sanded and refinished to a warm golden tone
After After: close-up of the refinished oak showing the grain and the replacement boards blended into the original floor

There was solid oak under this carpet, and most of it was worth saving. We pulled the carpet and padding, scraped down decades of adhesive, and cut out the boards that were too far gone — water-stained at the wall, split, or missing. Those got replaced with matching stock woven into the existing runs rather than patched as an obvious square. Then the whole floor was sanded flat and finished.

Look closely at the finished floor and you can still pick out a few replacement boards sitting lighter than their neighbors. That's honest — new wood takes stain differently than hundred-year-old oak, and it evens out as it ages. Anyone who promises you a seamless match on a repair like this is overselling.
